Traffic Court Records in Benton County
Benton Circuit Court, court code 04C01, serves as the county's trial court. No Fowler, Oxford, Otterbein, Boswell, or Earl Park municipal court exists in the official listings. A ticket written by town police still belongs to the county court docket. Read the court name printed on the citation. Then check it through state systems or the Benton Clerk.
What can the record contain? The citation or cause number. The offense, the agency, events, a plea, deferral, disposition, costs, and payments. Indiana ePay handles eligible ticket searches, copies, and payment. MyCase carries the fuller picture: the CCS, meaning the dated court docket. A public item may go missing. You may also need a certified copy or current balance. The Benton County Clerk of the Circuit Court is the local fallback for all of that.
The Indiana ePay ticket service presents the ticket search itself. Eligible tickets can use it for copies and payment.

Results cover only eligible tickets. The service itself warns that some tickets never appear or qualify for online payment.
Benton Traffic Records: Three ePay Routes
ePay gives you three ways to search. With the paper citation in hand, enter the UTT, the uniform traffic ticket number. Lost the UTT? A driver's-license-number search may still work. The name route needs first, middle, and last name plus date of birth. A hit can display name and address, ticket date, UTT, police agency, court, case number, offense date and description, and the balance. Copy, payment, deferral, and plea options show up only where the record allows them.
- UTT number
- The ticket identifier printed on the citation and used by ePay.
- Cause number
- The court case identifier. A Benton matter commonly carries the 04C01 court code.
- Balance
- The amount displayed in the ticket service, which may require confirmation if collections, interest, or another charge applies.
- CCS
- The Chronological Case Summary in MyCase, showing dated events beyond a payment screen.
A UTT and a cause number are cousins, not twins. MyCase wants the cause number for real court history. ePay answers the narrower question: can this ticket be paid or copied online?
How to Look Up a Traffic Ticket
If the first search comes up empty, try the other channels. A portal screen or an old paper notice alone will never settle a changed setting or balance.
- Read the ticket for the UTT number, issuing agency, court, response instructions, and appearance information.
- Search ePay by UTT. If needed, retry by driver's-license number or by full name and date of birth.
- Open MyCase and search the cause number, citation number, or party name for the fuller CCS.
- If no record appears, call the Benton Clerk at 765-884-0930 or Circuit Court at 765-884-0370. An in-person clerk visit is also available at 706 E. 5th Street in Fowler.
- Record the court date, offense, balance, eligibility message, and deadline, then confirm uncertain details directly before paying or appearing.
Written requests can start with an email to bcclerkstaff@bentoncounty.in.gov or a fax to the clerk at 765-884-0322. The clerk publishes no traffic-copy mail form, fax form, or drop-box procedure. Before sending anything, ask what details, payment, postage, identification, and certification the office requires.
When Benton County Traffic Records Lag
Was the ticket issued fewer than ten business days ago? Indiana ePay says to wait and retry. The officer's citation has to reach court systems before any online match appears. After that interval, try another permitted search method. Still nothing? Move to MyCase or call the court. Remember that a failed portal search never cancels the response date printed on the citation.
Keep the paper citation: Preserve the UTT, agency, offense date, court name, and instructions. Ask clerk staff whether the case has posted and what controls while it is pending. Do not submit repeated payments through unrelated county services.
Juvenile tickets carry their own limit. ePay notes that a juvenile ticket may be payable online even when a copy cannot be purchased there. For the case record and the access rule, the court or clerk decides.
MyCase for Benton County Traffic Records
MyCase earns its place once the question goes beyond payment. The case record can show the CCS, court, filed date, and status. It also lists parties, settings, orders, disposition, and selected public documents. Searching by the cause number from ePay works best. A citation-number or name search helps when that number is unknown. Pick Benton County or court code 04C01. Otherwise you may pull results from another Indiana county.
Know the limits too. MyCase is not the official record. Its financial view can lag, and public documents follow Indiana access rules. Write down the title and date of any missing public item. Then ask the Benton Clerk for a plain or certified copy. For payment eligibility and the live amount, go back to ePay or call the Clerk.
Finding Your Traffic Court Date
Your citation and any later court notices come first for appearance dates. MyCase may list settings, continuances, orders, and case status. Indiana CourtCal lists Benton with no courts in its participating-courts response. So treat it as an unreliable local route. Always confirm the date with the Circuit Court before you drive there. A reset makes that doubly wise.
| Citation Number | The UTT from the ticket, distinct from a cause number such as 04C01-2401-IF-000001, a synthetic format example. |
|---|---|
| Court | Benton Circuit Court when the citation and state record identify 04C01. |
| Date & Time | The appearance or hearing setting, subject to later court orders. |
| Courtroom | The location stated on the current notice or confirmed by court staff. |
| Status | Pending, disposed, paid, or another system label that must be read with the CCS. |
A setting is not a disposition. It tells you when something is scheduled, never what the judge decided. A continuance only moves a date; it does not dismiss the ticket.
Paying or Contesting a Ticket
ePay settles only the tickets and choices it marks eligible. Paying counts as a plea and can produce a conviction on the court record. To contest, follow the citation or court's process. File the required response to get a hearing or trial setting. Benton publishes no universal deadline or local defensive-driving rule. The ticket and the court notice control.
| Paying the Ticket | Contesting the Ticket |
|---|---|
| Use ePay only if the ticket is listed and payment is offered. | Follow the issuing court's plea and appearance instructions. |
| Review offense, court, balance, and transaction charge first. | Do not use the payment button as a substitute for a not-guilty response. |
| Keep the confirmation and later verify the CCS disposition. | Confirm the hearing date and any required written filing with the court. |
Missed appearance or payment: Indiana BMV says failure to appear or pay can lead to a driver's-license suspension. Clearing it may require court notice of appearance or payment, and a reinstatement can also involve insurance proof or completion of the suspension. Contact the Benton court and BMV rather than assuming an online payment instantly restores driving privileges.
Benton County Traffic Record Fees
The Benton County Clerk's fee sheet dated July 1, 2023 spells out the traffic costs. A Traffic Offense runs $189.50, or $217.50 with sheriff service. An Infraction costs $139, or $167 with sheriff. A six-month Infraction Deferral sits at $192, or $220 with sheriff. These are older published figures. They do not guarantee today's total or prove that any driver qualifies for deferral.
Ask the Clerk directly. Confirm the fine, sheriff component, transaction charge, any late or collection status, and the deferral terms before you rely on a number. What ePay shows as a balance may leave financial questions unanswered. A payment screen is not legal advice about what a plea means.
Court Traffic Record vs Driver Record
Two agencies, two records. Benton Circuit Court and its Clerk hold the judicial case: the ticket, the events, the plea, the disposition, court costs, and payment. Indiana BMV holds the other file, covering license status, reported convictions, points, and suspensions. A clean court docket search does not prove a clean driver history. Finishing a Driver Safety Program course does not erase the court citation either.
| Court Traffic Record | Driver Record | |
|---|---|---|
| Kept By | Benton Circuit Court and Clerk | Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles |
| Shows | Citation, CCS events, plea, disposition, costs, payment | Reported convictions, points, license status, suspensions |
| How to Get It | MyCase, ePay, or a Clerk request | Indiana BMV driver-record channel |
The BMV's common traffic violations page describes driver-record consequences.

Agency guidance deals with license status, but the Benton court docket remains the true source for the case itself.
Benton County Traffic Records and Points
Here is how the points side works. Indiana BMV states that two or more traffic offenses within twelve months can trigger a Driver Safety Program notice. The notice usually carries a ninety-day completion window. The published program terms cap a course at $55. Eligible completion earns a four-point credit once in three years. Keep the boundaries straight, though. Those rules govern the driver record. They do not delete a Benton Circuit Court case, and they do not convert a conviction into a dismissal. The BMV's citation points guidance explains the program on its official page.

Read the current BMV notice and the court CCS separately. They answer different questions.
Benton County Traffic Records Versus E-Filing
E-filing serves a different crowd. Indiana's system handles documents filed through certified providers. A filer picks a case or new-case path, builds an envelope, selects filing codes, uploads the papers, names service recipients, pays the fees, and gets confirmation. That is submission work. It is not the public tool for looking up a UTT. It is not for casually fighting a ticket either. The official Indiana e-filing portal is a separate system from ePay. Its screens show that filing workflow.

File a document only when the court's procedure requires one. Even then, an envelope must be accepted, coded, served, and handled under access rules.
Fees and Copies
ePay may offer a ticket copy, with transaction costs added where shown. Need a fuller CCS, a missing public filing, or a certified traffic record? Contact the Benton Clerk. The county's 2023 sheet prices public-terminal instruments at $1 per page, fax copies at $1 per page, capped at an $8 maximum. Indiana law sets $3 for a certificate under seal. Confirm current charges before you pay.
| Item | Fee | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Online ticket copy | Amount shown by ePay | Not offered for every ticket; transaction cost may apply |
| Plain clerk copy | Confirm; 2023 sheet lists $1 per page | Ask about format, postage, and delivery |
| Certified copy | Confirm; state law lists $3 per certificate | Copy charge may also apply |
