View Boswell Court Docket

Start any Boswell court docket search with the Benton County trial court. The town posts no municipal court portal of its own. Boswell sits in Benton County, Indiana, so the county clerk and the state's Odyssey case system hold the docket information residents need, including the Chronological Case Summary for each case. Bring a case number, a citation, a party name, or attorney details from a court notice, since any of those will narrow a lookup fast. The town hall and the marshal's office handle local matters only. They keep no court records. For certified copies, missing filings, or straight answers about a hearing date, contact the Benton County clerk, the office that actually maintains the court docket.

Boswell Court Docket Local Route

Boswell sits on U.S. 41 in Grant Township. Parnaham Boswell founded the town in 1872. The official Boswell town profile spotlights its park, restored Carnegie library, town marshal, and community center.

Boswell court docket official town profile

Boswell has its own civic profile. Its listings do not add a judicial portal, though. The Indiana directory and Rule 8 list both route Boswell users to Benton Circuit Court. That court carries the identifier 04C01. The 2020 Census counted 800 residents, placing Boswell fourth among the five profiled Benton towns. Size explains the separate town page, not a change in the countywide court structure.

The Boswell Municipal Court

Boswell has no court of its own. It does not appear in the state Court Directory, the Rule 8 court identifiers, the MyCase court menu, the CourtCal participating list, or the town profile, and the phrase "Boswell Municipal Court" is a leftover template topic rather than proof that one operates.

Town government has its own footprint. Boswell Town Hall and Community Center sits at 108A East Main Street, PO Box 617, Boswell, IN 47921, with telephone 765-869-5951 and fax 765-869-4542. Office hours run weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and the town council meets the second Tuesday at 6 p.m. None of that is judicial. A council meeting record is not a docket entry.

Local distinction: Use Boswell civic contacts for town business and the Benton County Clerk for a 04C01 court record.

Boswell Criminal Cause Numbers

Every Benton criminal cause number starts with 04C01. The rest of the uniform number carries the filing year and month. It also carries the case type and the sequence. Felony levels run F1 through F6. CM means criminal misdemeanor, MC miscellaneous criminal, and PC post-conviction relief. Remember that a case code classifies the filing. It says nothing about the outcome.

Try the full number first. Indiana lets you drop hyphens and leading zeroes on a second attempt if needed. For a name search, enter the whole last name. Then add a first name or birth date to narrow things down. The trailing wildcard and the sounds-like option are separate tools, so do not combine them.

A criminal CCS can list charges, appearances, motions, settings, orders, judgment, sentencing, costs, and disposition when public. Read the event text itself. Filed does not mean granted. An Open or Closed filter will not explain how a charge ended.

Boswell Court Dates and Settings

Benton's CourtCal response shows an empty participating-courts list. That does not mean no hearing exists. Work from the latest notice and the newest MyCase CCS entry, then call Benton Circuit Court at 765-884-0370 or the Clerk at 765-884-0930 to confirm the date, room, and appearance details.

DateThe hearing day shown by the latest controlling notice or order.
TimeThe scheduled start time and time zone.
CourtroomThe Benton hearing location or remote appearance detail.
JudgeThe assigned judicial officer, subject to later assignment.
Setting TypeThe event, such as initial hearing, pretrial, motion hearing, trial, or sentencing.

A reset or continuance moves the prior setting; a cancellation removes the event. Neither word, standing alone, tells you the final result.

Boswell Dockets in Odyssey

Benton Circuit Court has run on Odyssey since March 1, 2010. The platform supports several tools. These include the Chronological Case Summary, public MyCase information, e-filing connections, and court administration. So modern Boswell causes live on a statewide technology layer. The town hosts no docket database of its own. The official Indiana Odyssey overview describes the case-management platform in detail.

Boswell court docket Indiana Odyssey technology

That overview explains how filings feed the CCS and MyCase. It does not make MyCase the official record, though. Older cases may show less online depth, and protected records stay subject to access rules.

MyCase caps broad results at 1,000. It may show a CAPTCHA after repeated use, and automated data mining is prohibited. Keep an individual Boswell search narrow. Use Benton County, case type, filing dates, status, first name, or the court number.

Boswell Traffic Tickets

For an eligible citation, Indiana ePay searches by UTT number, driver's license number, or name and birth date. Results may show the ticket date, agency, court, case number, offense, and balance. Not every ticket or court participates. ePay is not a complete CCS.

Check the named court before you act. A Boswell address or a town marshal contact will not tell you whether a ticket is payable online. MyCase carries the case event record for an 04C01 infraction. For contesting, eligibility, or a deadline, call the court. Do not assume a payment screen lists every option.

Paying and contesting trigger different court actions. The Benton County traffic court records route covers the citation record. It also covers the court docket at county depth.

Boswell Filings and E-Filing

Filing in a Boswell case means working through Indiana's electronic system. The state links certified service providers to an e-filing manager. That manager hands documents to the court's Odyssey platform. A filer picks a provider and opens an account. Next comes a new or existing case, a filing code, and the document upload. Service recipients come next, then fees, then a confirmation. None of that is the same as reading a public docket. The official Indiana e-filing model page lays out each step of that flow.

Boswell court docket Indiana e-filing model

That diagram sets state context only. It creates no local Boswell filing rule. For the filing method now accepted, current fees, and whether a particular form will work, the Benton Clerk's office answers directly. One caution matters here. A confirmation only proves the filing moved through the system, not that the judge granted anything. The judge's action shows up in the later CCS entry and the signed order, so check both.

Where Boswell Cases End Up

Boswell has no separate town court. Local cases therefore start at Benton Circuit Court instead of a municipal judicial tier. That single court carries criminal, civil, family, juvenile, probate, small-claims, traffic, infraction, and other statutory dockets. Appeals get their own appellate cause number.

Federal matters live in PACER and never show in MyCase. Town meeting minutes, marshal administrative files, and library records sit with other offices entirely. For any Boswell matter that is truly judicial, the Benton County court docket opens the wider county view.

Boswell Court and Civic Records

Boswell's restored Carnegie library and the local phrase "Hub of the Universe" are pleasant civic color, but neither creates a court record. What matters is the record's purpose and which office holds it, since that pair determines where a request goes.

Indiana's Access to Public Records Act covers agency records broadly. Court records answer first to the more specific Rules on Access to Court Records. So an APRA request cannot crack open a sealed court file.

Boswell Court Record Copies

MyCase sometimes posts public documents free. When a public document is missing online, jot down the 04C01 number, the CCS date, the entry text, and the document title. Then ask the Benton County Clerk whether it is available, and whether you need a plain or certified copy. The Clerk's office sits at 706 E. 5th Street, Fowler, IN 47944, open weekdays 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Eastern except major holidays. Official sources disagree on the room, so call ahead before driving over from Boswell. The county offers no general mail-in copy form, no online copy-order button, and no stated public terminal policy, so ask directly about accepted wording, cost, postage, identification, and certification.

A certified copy carries the clerk's authentication. A MyCase image does not. Indiana law allows up to one dollar per page for copy preparation plus a three-dollar certificate under seal, subject to how the rules apply today, so confirm the total before ordering.

Public Access to Boswell Court Records

Indiana Rule 4 sets the baseline for court-record access. Rule 5 shields particular confidential cases, documents, and data. A Boswell search can therefore leave out sealed, juvenile, adoption, mental-health, expunged, or other restricted material. And a paper file in the clerk's office does not guarantee remote access to every document.

Key Rules:

Indiana Rule on Access to Court Records 4 states the general public-access rule.

Indiana Rule on Access to Court Records 5 identifies exclusions and confidential records.

Indiana Administrative Rule 9 addresses remote access and written compiled-data requests.

Parties and attorneys sometimes get wider access than the public. That wider view never turns sealed material public. If a public item appears in the CCS but has no online image, ask the clerk about it.

Verify a Boswell Court Docket

Check the court number, the parties, the filing date, the case type, and the newest CCS events. The CCS date marks when an entry was made, which can differ from the hearing date or the date an order was signed. Read any linked documents along with the event text. A case type is not an outcome. F6, for instance, classifies a felony filing, while a later entry may record dismissal, plea, diversion, reduction, or another end result. When wording matters, quote the public text exactly and verify against the official file.

No results? Change one field at a time. Try the full number without hyphens, pick Benton County, or search the party name. Then call the clerk. An empty screen can mean an older record, confidentiality, expungement, or a simple search mismatch.

Boswell Docket Request Checklist

Before calling the clerk, gather the full 04C01 number, the public case caption, the CCS entry date, the document title, and the type of copy you want. Say plainly whether you need a plain copy, a certified copy, or just confirmation that a public filing exists. Ask about current cost and delivery before sending money.

Keep town and court requests apart. A Boswell council record belongs to town government. A judicial order belongs to the Benton County Clerk. Routing each request to the right office cuts delay and lets each office apply the correct Indiana access rule.

Boswell users should keep the clerk's response with the searched case number for reference.
